What is Canvas?

Canvas is the learning management system (LMS) WISH uses at WISH Middle and WISH Academy. This is where teachers post assignments and resources for their lessons and where students submit work. Canvas is also where our teachers maintain the gradebooks for their classes. MS and HS students and teachers use Canvas on a daily basis at WISH.

Canvas has an account type called an "Observer" account, which parents/guardians can use to monitor student grades, progress, and activity, and can be accessed via the Canvas Parent app.

  • Communication with teachers about specific assignments

Getting started with Canvas Parent

  1. Get a Student Pairing Code. There are two ways to get a code.
  2. Go to WISH's Canvas login page
  3. Click "Parent of a Canvas User? Click Here For an Account"
  4. Fill in your information, including creating a password
  5. Enter your Student Pairing Code
  6. You're done!
These steps can also be completed on a phone by downloading the Canvas Parent app from the App Store (iPhone) or Play Store (Android). Please note: when the app asks you search for a school type "WISH Charter" and choose "WISH Charter (parents)" from the search results.

If you need help with your password, please try the self-help options first.
  1. Visit WISH's Canvas login page
  2. Click the Forgot Password? link
  3. Follow the prompts and you should receive an email with further instructions.
