WISH offers a balanced approach to literacy by combining explicit phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency development, and reading comprehension instructional strategies.

 

We use the science of reading to guide all of our instructional practices in Language Arts. Readers' and Writers' workshop occurs daily, the goal of which is to help young people become avid and skilled readers, writers, and inquirers. Using proven methods for teaching reading and writing, our educators provide students with literacy-rich instruction, encouraging them to dig deeper within a text, and to express their comprehension in thorough ways. Our hope with our young scholars is to truly develop a love of language arts!
