On Monday May 9th, the WISH Kindergarten classes made a visit to
a real working farm, the Underwood Family Farm in Moorpark.
This hands-on educational experience involved a presentation from
the farmer about different kinds of vegetables and fruit (with
seeds on the inside versus the outside), and stages of plants.
After a vintage tractor drawn wagon ride, each
student got to pick their own one-pound carton of
fresh strawberries to take home and share with their
families. That is, except for the ones that were eaten
immediately off the plants, of course! The day went by quickly, but
there was even a little time to visit the Farm Animal
Center to get up close and feed goats, pigs, ducks and
